“My company, Pure Religion Ministries, Inc, has a program that provides disadvantaged women with free instruction in life and entrepreneurship skills via holistic, creative, and visual arts workshops. Activities include painting, product design, and crafts. In addition to offering coaching and consulting services, the company also donates 10% of the net profits of its all natural, handmade bath & beauty product line to a Wilmington nonprofit that meets the spiritual, social, and physical needs of the City’s homeless population,” according to Writer, Artist, and Pure Religion Ministries, Inc owner, Yvette Renee Johnson, of Wilmington, Delaware.
With Wilmington having between 30-40% of households living in poverty, according to the Census Record of 2013, Johnson knew the small city south of Philadelphia, Pa. was in need of an outreach ministry, especially geared toward women, whom often spearhead households of poverty, (about 28% of households in Wilmington). Then, it was in May of 2016, when Johnson birthed “Pure Religion Holistics,” a Social Entrepreneurship under the umbrella of Pure Religion Ministries, Inc. She hand-makes and sells hand-poured, scented, soy candles, body butters, salt scrubs and other beauty products. The items are often labeled with scripture verses, quotes, and other words of encouragement. The business operates online and Johnson often has pop-up sale events in the Tri-state area of Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Pure Religion Holistics also frequently contributes products to various campaigns and events that promote the mission of James 1:27. About 10% of net profits are donated to non-profit organizations, such as the Sunday Breakfast Mission
In addition to making and selling holistic items, Johnson offers Pure Religion Coaching & Consulting services to small businesses and professionals. She actively engages women and other disadvantaged business owners that are seeking to overcome the professional and personal obstacles that can impact growth and limit opportunities.
Pure Religion Ministries, Inc is an endeavor that reflects Yvette’s heart toward helping women heal and meet their full potential. She has organized donation drives, hosted holistic & wellness events, and has facilitated workshops for individuals and community groups in Wilmington.
Johnson’s latest venture is the Young Influencers Program, an entrepreneurship and creative arts program operated through the ministry component of Pure Religion Ministries, Inc. The program, which will include community activities for children and teen girls, is slated to start next month at Shortlidge Academy in Wilmington, Delaware. “The program will also be hosted by Wilmington non-profit “I am My Sister’s Keeper” in the Fall of 2018. Last year, Yvette organized a fundraiser for her start-up project “Beauty for Ashes.” Wilmington organizations and non-profits can apply to host the project; applications will be made available in late January 2018.” For more information on all things Pure Religion and to learn more about Yvette, visit: http://www.yvettereneejohnson.com./ Holistic items can be purchased at http://www.purereligioncandles.com/.
