The Summit is free and open to the public. This total wellness seminar addresses body, mind and spirit for women and girls age 11 years and older. It will be held Saturday, April 23rd at the John H. Ammon Medical Education Center located at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. The day begins with registration, a light and healthy breakfast and health screenings at 8:30 a.m. Activities that include workshops, free lunch and intermittent drawings for prizes throughout the day will culminate at 2:30 p.m. with our signature physician, youth and survivors fashion show. We are excited to continue our partnership with Christiana Care Health System and to begin a new collaboration with One Village Alliance to bring the “Girls Can Do Anything!” experience to 11-17 year old guests.
There is a pressing need within our community to elevate awareness of the physical and mental health issues that women and young ladies face. The summit seeks to empower women and girls to take control of their health by promoting the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
The focus will be on health and wellness with special emphasis on prevention, chronic disease management (i.e., presentations on top cancers, cardiovascular, diabetes, kidney disease, etc.), mental, emotional and spiritual wellness, substance and alcohol abuse and overall healthy living and holistic wellness (nutrition, fitness and beauty). Workshops will be facilitated by female physicians, other health professionals and knowledge experts. Additionally, there will be health promotion exhibitors and resources; health insurance information and certified ACA marketplace counselors to connect consumers to primary care physicians and healthcare services, including Medicaid, Medicare and other state assistance programs.
