It is with great pleasure that we announce the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Epsilon Rho Zeta Chapter, Annual Finer Womanhood High Tea that benefits both the Katherine B. Ross Scholarship Fund and the General Scholarship Fund. This event will be held at the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington, Delaware, on Sunday, March 19, 2017.
In 2005 we established Zeta CAN! in an effort to further our community outreach. Zeta CAN! – The Zeta Community Action Network, along with Epsilon Rho Zeta set forth to establish the Katherine B. Ross Scholarship in 2006, adding it to the chapter’s education portfolio. Preference for this scholarship is given to adult students pursuing the academic study of education. Since 2004, the General Scholarship has been awarded to deserving young women pursuing higher education in the New Castle County community. For over 60 years, the chapter has given insurmountable hours of voluntary service to educate the public, assist youth, provide scholarships and support organized charities. The Finer Womanhood High Tea is the culminating annual event highlighting these efforts.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is one of the nation’s largest African-American woman’s organizations; it has a proud 96 years of history based on sisterhood, finer womanhood, community service and scholarship.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS training session will be conducted by Charles Brown, Charles is a member of the DE Blacks in Government (BIG) Chapter. Charles has over 30 years experience in federal public service. He served with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). His experience includes Program Management, providing Contract Administration for state and local fair employment practice agencies (FEPA), and being selected as a National Trainer for EEOC and FEPA personnel as a part of the National Training Institute. In addition, Charles successfully served as an EEOC Investigator of employment discrimination claims in the federal government, including the U.S. Postal Service, and as a Compliance Supervisor. Charles also possesses experience in Equal Employment Opportunity law enforcement, training, and resolution of claims, which includes the settlement process. Charles earned a Bachelor of Arts from Morgan State University.

In commemoration of Immigrant Heritage Month, the Delaware Historical Society is hosting a Pop Up Museum on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 1 p.m.– 3 p.m. at the Delaware History Museum.
A Pop Up Museum is a temporary exhibit created solely by the guests who contribute to it. Participants are invited to bring a small- to medium-sized object that represents the theme “Immigrants Welcome.” The object can be anything meaningful that tells the story of immigration past or present. The Pop Up will run from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., but participants are asked to arrive by 12:30 p.m. to set up. Spend the afternoon sharing stories, meeting other participants and visitors, and celebrating Delaware’s diverse cultural heritage!
Guests are also invited to bring a photograph of themselves to a new, temporary, “Faces of Delaware” photo exhibit in Old Town Hall, which will remain on display all month.
Participants contributing an object for the Pop Up Museum receive Free Admission–one object per person is required for free admission.

The O’Jays are touring history, a connection to an era and a sound that formed the soundtrack for the lives of several generations. The O’Jays are still hitting the road with the same electrifying energy they’ve had for over 50 years. Walter Williams and Eddie Levert first met when they were the ages of 6 and 7 respectively. As teenagers in Canton, Ohio, they formed a band originally consisting of Eddie Levert, Walter Williams, William Powell, Bobby Massey and Bill Isles. In 1963, the band took the name “”The O’Jays”” in tribute to Cleveland radio disc jockey Eddie O’Jay. Several members have changed, but the core, original lead singers Eddie Levert and Walter Williams, continue to front the group.
The O’Jays scored the first No. 1 and million-seller with “Backstabbers” and subsequently, they succeeded with various chart-topping pop and R&B singles including “Love Train,” “Put Your Hands Together,” “For The Love of Money,” “I Love Music,” “Darlin’ Darlin’ Baby (Sweet, Tender, Love),” “Livin’ For The Weekend” and “Use Ta Be My Girl.” This success propelled The O’Jays to be the first black vocal group to perform in arenas throughout America during the ’70s and ’80s.
The O’Jays were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2005 and honored with BET’s Life Time Achievement Award in 2009. In 2013, they were inducted into The Official R&B Music Hall of Fame. Throughout their career The O’Jays have achieved 10 Gold albums, 9 Platinum albums and 10 No. 1 hits. Eddie Levert Sr., Walter Williams Sr. and Eric Nolan Grant, who joined the group in 1995, continue to thrill fans today.
