Empowering Strong Minds and Healthy Hearts @ South Bridge Neighborhood House

Wilmington, DE, February 24, 2018 – The inaugural mental wellness event, Empowering Strong Minds and Healthy Hearts, “Restoring Hope in Our Families and Communities” on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Neighborhood House located at 1218 B Street, Wilmington, DE.
We are honored to partner with Delaware of Department Health and Social Services: Delaware Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health.

This free mental wellness event will focus on self-care (body, mind and spirit), providing coping skills and resources to promote healthy and successful families and communities. Our dynamic speakers will provide information on understanding addiction and getting help for you and your family; resolving conflict, dealing with depression, anxiety and anger; helping your child succeed in school and in life; accessing community resources (health insurance, domestic violence, emergency resources (i.e., utilities, rent, housing, suicide prevention, legal, etc.  Interactive fun self-care activities include meditation, drumming, storytelling, chair massage, etc.  The target audience is women and men age 18 and older. Due to the nature of the topics no children will be allowed.

Workshops will be facilitated by professionals and knowledge experts. Additionally, there will be healthy living and community resource exhibitors.

Free lunch will be provided.

On Saturday, April 21, 2018, Delaware Juneteenth Association (DEJA) will be hosting the Second Annual Freedom Gala, benefiting the Delaware Juneteenth Scholarship Fund. The Freedom Gala is a unique event that will create a celebratory atmosphere as we raise awareness of and express the importance Juneteenth. Please join us for a night of elegance, celebration, and freedom. Dinner will be prepared by Award-winning Chef O’Shay Lolley. Entertainment will be provided by a live band.
Doors will open at 6 pm. Our Silent Auction begins at 6 pm and will close at 7:45 pm. Forms of payment: Cash/Checks/PayPal.
