While 88% of Americans marry at least once in their lifetime, it seems that the number of celebrity marriages is double or even triple that amount.

However, every once in a while, a celebrity couple will make headlines for reaching a marriage milestone. Here is a list of five black couples who are celebrating long-lasting marriages.

Samuel L. Jackson and wife LaTanya Richardson

After meeting in Morehouse College back in the 1970s, this couple recently celebrated 36 years of marriage. That’s not to say this marriage is without its trials and tribulations. Jackson has been especially open about his substance abuse throughout the years and credits Richardson for his recovery.

    Will Smith and Jada Pinket

The relationship between Smith and Pinket has been hailed in Tinseltown as near perfect ever since their union in 1997. Despite facing increasingly harsh reports of infidelity and divorce, the pair has stayed strong throughout turmoil with the press.

    Denzel Washington and Pauletta Pearson

Who said love at first sight was not a factor in a long-standing marriage? Not this couple of lovebirds, who first met on the set of Wilma, and married in 1983. They celebrated 33 years of marriage in June.

    Magic and Cookie Johnson

Twenty-five years of marriage has not been easy for this pair, who in 1991 had to cope with Magic’s HIV positive diagnosis. Announced to the world right before the 1992 NBA season, this basketball star shocked the world with his retirement from professional basketball. Cookie, who does not carry the virus, stayed right by his side and the pair has a 24-year-old son.

    Bill and Camille Cosby

This pair celebrated 52 years of marriage this year. However, their marriage hasn’t been picture perfect. Over the past two years, more than 50 women have made allegations against Bill for inappropriate sexual misconduct. Camille has stuck by his side, though, and made a public statement expressing “The man I met, and fell in love with, whom I continue to love, is the man you all knew through his work,” according to Hip Hollywood.
