Wilmington Renaissance Corporation’s (WRC) Board of Directors elected two new board members, Edward F. Garofalo and Jed Hatfield at their January 16 annual meeting.

ed-garofaloEdward F. Garofalo is the Managing Director of Global Commercial Banking Operations for Citibank.  In his current role as Operations Head for the Global Commercial Banking Business, Ed supports the Commercial Bank and various Operations Teams (Consumer and ICG) that support the business to make significant improvements in client experience as well as efficiency – in line with the Commercial Banking strategy.  Ed is currently the site president for Brandywine site in Delaware and was instrumental in getting the site up and running.

Before joining Consumer O&T, Ed was the Chief Operations Officer for Citi Branded Cards, Ed provided leadership and direction for the business by focusing on Operating Platform evolution, ensuring the business operates in a well-controlled environment, leading the Global Cards efforts and defining new lending opportunities. Ed was also responsible for leading Branded Cards-wide change agenda and strengthening the connectivity with the Service Delivery and Technology organizations. Prior to this role, Ed was head of the Value Seeker and International Cards teams, responsible for a number of key growth areas for the bankcards business. He was also responsible for leading the Acquisition, Balance Transfer and Sales/Activation strategies for Citi Branded Cards.

From 2005-2011, Ed was head of the Citi Brands organization and was responsible for the management of Citi Cards’ largest credit card division, which accounted for more than $83 billion in managed bankcard loans. The Citi Brands organization included all of the strategy, marketing, and implementation functions for Citi Cards’ consumer bankcard products, as well as the Thank You rewards network, which covers a number of businesses across Citigroup. The Citi Brands portfolio included such industry-leading products as Citi AAdvantage®, Citi PremierPass®, AT&T Universal Card, Citi ForwardSM and a suite of Citi American Express cards.

Ed began his career with Citi Cards in Kansas City in 1999, when he was hired to be the Director of Collections. In addition to his functional role, he also acted as Kansas City Site President.  Later, while still in Kansas City, he became the Director of Customer Service within Citi Cards. While there, he served on several boards, including the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, the Heart of America United Way, the Kansas City Area Development Council, and St. Luke’s Northland Hospital. Shortly after the acquisition of the Sears Credit Card business, Ed was asked to manage the strategic development for the Citi Sears Credit Service portfolio. The corporate office was based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and consisted of more than 300 employees. The Citi Sears business involves the direct management of the relationship with Sears, the management of the private label and co-brand products, and the coordination and implementation of non-cards Citigroup products to Sears and/or its customers.

Before joining Citigroup/Citi Cards, Mr. Garofalo held several senior management positions at Bank One, where he spent 15 years. His roles included Senior Vice President of Marketing for First USA’s card portfolio and Chief Marketing Officer for Bank One’s bankcards division. He also held management positions in Bank One’s Operations and Technology organizations.

jed-hatfieldJed Hatfield is the president of Colonial Parking. He leads a family-owned business with more than 40 parking facilities, 285 employees and management operations in the Wilmington, Del., and Delaware County and Philadelphia, Pa., areas. Jed has held national Board of Directors roles with the National Parking Association since 1998. Most recently, he served on the Executive Committee as chairman and is a 20-year member of the association.

Jed has significant experience with the design and construction review as well as initial implementation of parking control systems, and he has been actively involved in the design, construction and management of several major garages.

Recognizing the critical link between parking and real estate, he is also a second vice president of the Committee of 100, an economic development organization in Wilmington, Del.; immediate past chairman of the Transportation Management Association of Delaware; co-chair of the Wilmington Renaissance Corporation Transportation Working Group; a committee member of the Main Street Wilmington Design Committee; a member of the Commercial-Industrial Realty Council in Wilmington, Del.; and a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Mr. Hatfield is the founding co-chair of the Crozer-Chester Foundation Professional Group; serves on the Board of Directors of Artisans Bank and Downtown Visions of Wilmington, and is a member of the Caesar Rodney Rotary Club.

WRC’s Managing Director, Carrie W. Gray said, “Ed and Jed will be a wonderful addition to WRC’s dynamic Board of Directors. Citibank and Colonial Parking have both made a strong commitment to our city and we look forward to their participation and support.”
