Something of a one-man amalgam of The Cramps, Beck’s early indie records and the “O Brother Where Art Thou” soundtrack, singer and guitarist Langhorne Slim offers a sardonic, modern take on traditional Americana, country and blues. Fancifully dubbed "the bastard son of Hasil Adkins” in his early years, Langhorne Slim’s thoughtful lyrics and energetic live shows have earned him a reputation as a folk singer-songwriter with a punk-rock sensibility. On Thursday, January 26th at 8:30pm, he will perform at World Cafe Live at the Queen with the explosively intoxicating opener Holy Ghost Tent Revival.
British hip-hop/soul sensation Estelle is performing on Thursday, March 1st at 7:30pm, touring in support of her new album, “All of Me”, a follow up to the success of her Grammy Award-winning debut album “Shine”. This date has been changed from February 29th. Estelle will also be performing at World Cafe Live Philadelphia on March 5th (changed from 2/28).
Shawn Colvin’s songs are slow-release hand-crafted works of catharsis that become treasured, lifetime companions for their listeners. In the 19 years since the release of her debut album, Colvin has won three Grammy Awards, released eight albums, maintained a non-stop national and international touring schedule, appeared on countless television and radio programs, had her songs featured in major motion pictures and created a remarkable cannon of work. She performs on Thursday, March 29th at 8pm with opener Carsie Blanton of Philadelphia.
