Miss Delaware, Chelsea Bruce, House Majority Leader Valerie Longhurst, and Councilwoman Rysheema Dixon Join First Annual Girls Empowerment Celebration

A Can't-Miss Night of Music, Fun, and Inspiration for Girls Throughout Delaware

Great Taste Design Company is excited to announce that newly crowned Miss Delaware, Chelsea Bruce, House Majority Leader, Valerie Longhurst, and Wilmington Councilwoman-at-Large, Rysheema Dixon, will be in attendance on Saturday, August 19 for its first annual Girls Empowerment Celebration. The can’t-miss girl-power event of the year will be held at Middletown High School at 6:00 PM.

The Girls Empowerment Celebration is for Delaware girls of all ages and includes the following agenda:

  • Inspirational words from Miss Delaware, Chelsea Bruce, Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen, Nicole Hannah, and House Majority Leader Valerie Longhurst
  • Two “Lady of Greatness” awards presentations honoring Rysheema Dixon, Wilmington Councilwoman-at-Large and Marnie Oursler, entrepreneur and President of Marnie Custom Homes
  • Scholarship award presentations to six girls in the categories of entrepreneurship, arts, athletics, leadership, philanthropy, and academics
  • Young entrepreneurs selling their products and services
  • Silent auction
  • Music, dance, and theatrical performances

“To say we are ecstatic to bring this event to girls in the great state of Delaware would be an understatement,” says Dee Yancey-Harris, Founder of Great Taste Design Company and visionary behind the Girls Empowerment Celebration. “We have a phenomenal group of women and girls for our inaugural event and it promises to be a night that leaves attendees inspired to reach higher and to achieve greater.”
