Applicants are being sought for the Mrs. Delaware beauty pageant this spring, with organizers keen to stress that entrants do not need to perform in a talent contest as part of the competition process.
Applicants must be married, a United States and Delaware citizen (or military installation in Delaware), and at least 18 years of age – there is no upper age limit, no height specification, no minimum years of marriage, and no requirement to have had children. Women from all vocations and backgrounds are encouraged to apply, from career women to homemakers.
The competition is divided into three phases. The first phase is the interview, consisting of four minutes with each judge to demonstrate confidence and show an ability to articulate. Next comes swimwear, whereby the contestant wears a one-piece swimsuit of her choice. The third phase is the evening gown, which is a chance to show poise, grace, and elegance in a beautiful gown of the contestant’s own choice and taste. The dress that is worn for the opening ceremony is complimentary, provided by the event organizers, as well as the embroidered sash that is draped from shoulder to waist. The sash highlights the contestant’s area of representation, which is sure to instil the wearer with a deep sense of pride knowing that she represents the married women of her hometown.
More than just a show, the Mrs. Delaware competition is an experience that the whole family will enjoy. The pageant will take place on April 30th at 5:30 pm in Middletown, at the Appoquinimink High School, located at 1080 Bunker Hill Road. Potential entrants can call the Mrs. Delaware office at 302.324.5272 to ask for free entry information.
