Recently the students celebrated the release of a compilation book entitled “We Are Not A Lost Cause: The Youth Speak!” that includes a collection of their articles, short stories & poetry. Tamara Shirer, founder of Born For Greatness Youth Empowerment Resources organized a book signing event for the students on December 3rd. At this event, the students had the opportunity to autograph copies of the book for their families and community members who came out to support and congratulate the students for their accomplishment.

The mission of the Born For Greatness Youth Writers program, is to show children how to use their gifts & talents to succeed in life. It is important to tell children that they can become successful in life & accomplish great things, but it is even more important to actually show them what they can accomplish by providing them with the resources to excel. One parent of a student in the BFG Youth Writers program stated “After the book signing event, my daughter came home and started rewriting her novel!  I think that it did not all become 'real' to her until the book signing event!  It became a tangible goal for her!  She is so on fire now!  She received so much positive encouragement that I think it has inspired her even more, and it has changed her focus!”

The students received lots of support & recognition from their surrounding community, and were even featured on Action News (Philadelphia). Their book “We Are Not A Lost Cause: The Youth Speak!” is now available on Amazon.com.
