Habitat Invites Local Volunteers to Join Dedicated "Week of Service"
Additionally, HFHNCC will be supporting Delaware Governor Jack Markell’s “Weekend of Service,” by adding a Sunday build day on January 25, completing his “Weekend of Service” initiative. Together these two events will create an entire “Week of Service” with Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County. “The two service events will allow those already familiar with Habitat’s mission to build affordable homes in partnership with hard working, low-income families an extra opportunity to come out and lend a hand. For those in the community who have never volunteered with us before, we view these added build days as a chance for folks to come out and help us make a difference for these families and these communities,” said Kevin L. Smith, HFHNCC’s Executive Director. HFHNCC currently has two construction sites in Wilmington, DE open for volunteers—Millers Row (22nd & LaMotte Sts.) and Greenbridge II (1330 Thatcher St.). At Miller’s Row, volunteers will be asked to do insulation and hang drywall on the seven homes in the development. Greenbridge II is our newest site, but part of a 16 house development in Wilmington's 11th Street Bridge Community. Since 1999, Habitat for Humanity has built or renovated 38 homes in this community. This month volunteers will help build fire walls, wall panels and help with decking. To learn more about HFHNCC or to sign up for any of our build days, please
