Delawareblack.com Announces Open Nominations For The Delaware Black Award 2009

Delawareblack.com LLC, has announced nominations are now being accepted for the Delaware Black Awards 2009. The Delaware Black Awards are a peoples’ choice awards established to highlight some of the best African American Businesses, Community Organizations, and Individuals in the state of Delaware. There are 27 categories in which nominations can be made; they include Best Barbershop, Best Doctor, Best Hair Salon, Best Community Non-Profit, Best Yearly Community Event, Best Live Band, and many more. Categories were selected based on those that are important to the African American community. The nomination period runs from August 21st, 2009 – October 2nd, 2009 and finalist voting will run from October 26th, 2009 – November 6th, 2009.

The Delaware Black Award is a symbol of respect and admiration that will be given to a select identified few. “Our goal is recognize, award recipients and top nominees," says Leonard Young, CEO of Delawareblack.com LLC. "Nominees are recommended via an Open call for nominations from the community (clients, customers, colleagues and or individuals) because of outstanding service within the community.” Nominations are only accepted online through the Delaware Black Awards website (www.delawareblackawards.com). Nominations will be tabulated and the Top “5”nominees in each of the “27” key categories to include, but not limited to, outstanding Business People, Community Organizations and individuals in Arts & Entertainment. The top “5” nominees’ in each category will be contacted to confirm their participation as a finalist. All finalists will receive significant community exposure and visibility, and on November 14th, the” cream of the crop” will rise to the top as they are recognized for their contributions and honored at the Delaware Black Awards 2009 Gala.

The Delaware Black Awards 2008, sponsored by WSFS, CommercialEyez and Delawareblack.com LLC, was held at the Baby Grand and consisted of 28 awards winners and an audience of over 200 supporters. The evening consisted of a cocktail reception, live music as well as the awards presentation. The Delaware Black Awards 2009 will be held on Saturday, November 14th, 2009 at the Delaware Theatre Company and is expected to be an evening full of Arts, Entertainment & Celebration. Due to the phenomenal response and support, this year’s event is expected to double in size as tickets requests are already exceeding expectations.
