Karen’s international experience includes studying in Turkey as part of a first time study abroad program at the college she attended. She also implemented, organized her internship to Ghana, West Africa where she lived and worked for two months with women and children. Before departing Ghana she sold the vehicle purchased for travel to purchase books, blackboards and supplies for the women and children at the Liberian Refugee Camp. Karen graduated Summa Cum Laude (highest honors) 2005 Human Services Studies and Summa Cum Laude 2007 with an Associate in Applied Science from Delaware Technical & Community College. Honors and recognition also for Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges, Delaware All-State Academic Team, Distinguished Alumni Award, President’s List, The National Dean’s List, The National Scholars Honor Society, Academic Excellence Award, New Castle County Alumni Association, The Children’s Choice Bridge Builder Award in recognition of commitment to ” Bridge Building within the Community” and Montclair Who’s Who in North America 2009 – 2010 Honored Member. Leadership positions held include President of Sigma Kappa Delta National English Honor Society, Member Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Vice-President of Fellowship Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, and Member of the Human Services Club.
